We believe that small actions can make a big difference!
At Our Only World, we believe that small actions can make a big difference when protecting our oceans, however we can’t do it all ourselves, we need people to get involved.
It’s the skills, ideas, and perspectives that people bring to the charity that helps us and inspires us to keep going every single day.
That’s why we welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, not just those with environmental experience or knowledge.
Whether you’re a designer, fundraiser, writer, marketer, project manager, photographer, administrator, student, retiree, or simply someone who cares about the future of our planet, there’s a place for you.
As a volunteer-led charity, every project we deliver is made possible by people generously sharing their time, expertise, and passion with us.
How You Can Get Involved:
Fundraising Support
Help us secure the resources needed to expand our environmental projects. This could include supporting fundraising applications, approaching local businesses, helping at events, or researching funding opportunities and ideas.
Social Media & Marketing
Support our communications volunteers by creating content on our social media channels and website, writing posts, engaging with followers and local businesses, producing photo and video content, and helping to spread awareness of our projects.
Community Ambassadors
Become a local representative for Our Only World in your area. Help raise awareness, connect us with local organisations, and support community engagement activities for the charity.
Water Refill Station Champions
We have a growing refill network around Cornwall which is hard for one person to manage, so as a Champion you can help us monitor and check your nearest water refill stations.
This might include:
- Checking signage
- Reporting maintenance issues
- Providing updates and photographs/ videos
- Helping promote refill culture in your community
Small actions can have a big impact in reducing single-use plastic waste.
Living Sea Wall Supporters
Similarly, if you live near one of our Sea Wall sites, you can help by periodically checking tiles (from a distance), reporting any issues, taking photographs, and helping us monitor their condition and the habitat growth over time.
Flexible Volunteering
We understand that everyone has different schedules and commitments.
Some volunteers contribute a few hours each month, while others take on ongoing projects or roles. Some volunteers work remotely from home, while others enjoy getting involved in their local community.
Whatever time you can offer, we’ll work with you to find a role that fits.
